Brightelmstead was set up by Dan in 2011, just before he moved to the vibrant city of Brighton. Originally an award-winning languages teacher, Dan is a qualified, insured, professional and experienced teacher, a trainer of teachers, a masseur and one year into his formal 2-year training as a yoga instructor with the British Wheel of Yoga.

What do we provide?
Now, alongside educational training, Brightelmstead provides massage treatments (1-to-1 and commercially in the workplace), yoga lessons (1-to-1, courses and classes, in the workplace), and workshops. Over the coming year we will be running retreats abroad to bring together likeminded people who wish to benefit from a more immersive experience where all elements come together.

What are the classes like? 
In any given yoga class some of us will want to focus on improved fitness, some on strength and muscle tone, some on relaxation and others on balance. Some will want to be more flexible and stretchy whilst others will want to follow a path to greater spiritual enlightenment. Yoga is a personal experience and we must each find the right style of yoga, teacher and approach to suit us, but yoga can provide all of this, and more.

So, whether you suffer chronic lower backache, have a stiff neck from long hours at the computer, have a stressful and chaotic daily routine, haven’t managed to tie up a shoelace for decades, or fear that yoga and massage aren't really for you, come along and give it a try…you might just be surprised.

These sessions are relaxed fun and peaceful (apart from some gentle background music from time-to-time). Some of you will leave a little physically tired or stretched, others will leave feeling restored and invigorated…both are okay…both are up to you.

What's Dan's approach?
As a masseur or instructor Dan is friendly and welcoming, non-judgemental and supportive, inquisitive and patient. His aim is that you leave his lessons, workshops or couch having learned something more, feeling rewarded by your experience (whether physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually), and with an increased sense of awareness and connection to take forwards.
